Anthony Lynn is preparing the LA Chargers for what could be his penultimate game as the head coach. The Bolts are on a streak of two wins, and they have an excellent opportunity for getting one over Sunday’s opponent, the Denver Broncos. With that in mind, will the Chargers play to the strengths of Justin Herbert?

The 4-9 LA Chargers haven’t won a divisional game since 2018. It’s Thursday Night Football and the Bolts face the 7-6 Las Vegas Raiders. Here are 4 keys to victory.

The LA Chargers found another way to leave points on the field in Sunday’s 20-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Instead of calling a pass play, Shane Steichen called a run play, resulting in a penalty and another missed opportunity to put points on the board.

Special teams showed up for the LA Chargers (4-9) in their narrow three-point victory over the Falcons (4-9). After a Week 13 shutout, it was vital for the team to bounce back with points on the board, here are three takeaways.

In 61 years, the Chargers has had only three teams, in 1973, 1975 and 2000 failing to win at least four games. At 3-9, the 2020 Bolts might be the 4th team on that list. The Chargers face the Falcons in Week 14, here are 3 things to watch.

The New England Patriots dismantled the LA Chargers in a 45-0 shutout, and there are no reasons for Tom Telesco to keep Anthony Lynn in the building. The defeat was the biggest defeat in the team’s history.

The conversation has moved away from how many games can the Chargers win, to how long does Anthony Lynn have left in the building. Bill Belichick’s Patriots (5-6) are the next team that will attempt to to exploit the Chargers’ coaching woes.

The Buffalo defense had a game plan to pressure Justin Herbert, as the Dolphins used to beat the Chargers a few weeks earlier. While Herbert, is having a record setting season, the wins are scarce.  Leslie Frazier’s unit showed that if you can dial up the heat, you can minimize the Herbert magic that the Charges are relying heavily on.

Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills wasn’t the shootout we expected between Josh Allen and Justin Herbert. Despite a brilliant performance from Joey Bosa, the return of Austin Ekeler, and Chris Harris Jr, the Bolts looked like a team heading for a high draft pick. The Chargers are 8-19 under Anthony Lynn since 2019.

The Chargers come of a five game stretch at 2-3. The run was an opportunity for Anthony Lynn’s team to gain ground on the AFC West, but that hasn’t happened. The Bolts are one game behind Denver, and three behind Las Vegas, meaning the playoffs look out of reach. There is no let up on the schedule as the Chargers prepare for their Week 12 matchup against the 7-3 Buffalo Bills.

Justin Herbert led the LA Chargers (3-7) to a win over the winless New York Jets (0-10). Anthony Lynn earlier in the week mentioned the Jets were the most dangerous team left on their schedule.  This was something my colleagues at Charged Up Bolts discussed in the Charged Up Bolts Podcast.

While the 2-7 Chargers haven’t played to their potential in 2020, the New York Jets haven’t managed a win. Adam Gase’s team are out to cause an upset, but today’s game gives the Bolts an opportunity for win number 3. Here are 3 bold predictions for the matchup.

The Chargers went into Miami as underdogs, in a game that statistically and emotionally was the worst played by the Los Angeles Chargers this season.  The Miami defense brought more pressure than rookie quarterback Justin Herbert has seen in other games. 

Given the recent failures of the Chargers (2-6), it’s no surprise they opened up as 2.5-point underdogs to the Miami Dolphins (5-3) in Week 10. While it may not be a crucial game to overall playoff standings, the Herbert versus Tagovailoa showdown should be enough to keep the neutrals interested in this game.

It’s been almost 700 days since the LA Chargers won a divisional game. Unless they can figure out how to close out games, that skid will continue. Sunday’s opponents are bitter rivals the 4-3 Las Vegas Raiders, a team on the rise, and firmly in the playoffs discussion.

Justin Herbert was 20 of 25 passes for 290 yards, three touchdowns along with an interception in the 31-38 loss Sunday to the Buccaneers. He led the team on three scoring drives of 75 yards or more.

Has there ever been more optimism for the Chargers coming off a defeat? Justin Herbert is arguably the catalyst for the positive mood among the Charger Nation. It would be wrong to write off the Carolina Panthers, but here are 3 observations ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Panthers (0-2) head to the West Coast, to face a Chargers (1-1) team licking their wounds. Neither team can afford to lose ground to their divisional rivals. Justin Herbert’s NFL career has started in unusual fashion thanks Tyrod Taylor’s injury, which added to Anthony Lynn’s headaches, but the Chargers aren’t the only team with problems.
